A Fine Wine and Fowl Pairing

Roast fowl cooked in and served with wine

Which wine with fowl? Which fowl with wine?

Remember, if you cook your fowl in a wine that you wouldn't, couldn't, shouldn't drink you may end up with a foul dish. This delicious fowl, also known as poultry, was cooked in wine, and served with wine. It's usually a good idea to cook with the same wine that you'll be drinking. Don't ever cook with a wine that you won't drink. Of course if you are going to accompany your quail with a great vintage Burgundy from the back of your wine cellar, you may be forgiven for cooking it with a fine vintage Burgundy from the middle of your wine cellar. Life is full of compromises.

Choosing a Wine to Match Your Fowl Dish

Try some of these great combinations and you may not want to go back to chicken. But some of our chicken and wine pairings are great as well. Whether you select your wine or your fowl dish first, check our tables to get a great match that brings out the best in the fowl and the wine. There's nothing like the right wine and food marriage.
