This is one very special Burgundy White wine
The dominant grape variety of white burgundy is Chardonnay, which many would argue reaches its peak of perfection in Burgundy. Suggested food pairings include Chicken Kiev, Poached Salmon, Brie, and Sushi and Sushami (rich fish).
White Burgundy starts at about $15 and the sky is the limit. There is no problem finding such wines in the several hundred dollar range. But that's not what we are looking at here. The Goisot Saint-Bris Fié Gris “Corps de Garde Gourmand” is made from the unusual Fié Gris grape, also known as Sauvignon Rosé and is a real bargain at about $18. Its tastes include perfumed citrus, apricot, and ginger, and it is good enough to enjoy on its own. The best Aligotés are said to come from the village of Bouzeron. You might try a A. et P. de Villaine Aligoté Bouzeron sometimes available for about $22. Its dominant characteristics are minerals and acid.
